112th Annual Vacation Bible School July 12, 2009

Students will travel in time to the New Testament era at the summer education program of California’s oldest Armenian Church.
“Paul and the Underground Church” is the theme of the 112th Annual Vacation Bible School of the First Armenian Presbyterian Church of Fresno.
The weeklong program will take place from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m. on July 12-16, 2009 at the Church Campus, 430 South First Street, midway between historic Huntington Boulevard and the Ventura Avenue Promenade.
Specially designed for students from pre-kindergarten through sixth grade, the VBS program is free and open to the public. Registration information and more details are available from Co-Directors Arpi Keledjian (431-5594) and Nyrie Karkazian (285-9369).
Based on the award-winning curriculum of Group Publishing in Colorado, “Paul and the Underground Church” immerses young learners in the times of the apostles, with Scriptural lessons from Paul of Tarsus, daily dramas, apprenticeship games, visits to Roman marketplace shops, upbeat music, and incredible summer snacks.
Students will also take part in a missions project to help fellow youth at FAPC’s sister congregation, the Evangelical Church of Armenia. The latter church is located in historic Talin, a city of 5,400 in the Aragatsotn Province of Western Armenia.
The FAPC VBS program will also offer adult education seminars on “Cults and Other Religions of the 21st Century.” Associate Pastor Aren Balabanian, a graduate of UCLA and the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, will review the ideas and practices of different religious groups and contemporary belief systems in light of Biblical truths.

Reverend Mgrdich Melkonian is Senior Pastor, Reverend Balabanian is Associate Pastor, Shant Barsoumian is the AEUNA Pastoral Intern, and Arpi Keledjian and Nyrie Karkazian are co-directors of the 2009 VBS Program.
