The City of National City is proud to present the 2nd Annual National City Week. The most historic City in the region is celebrating its 121st birthday and will highlight new developments, showcase its cultural heritage, and launch new community resources.
Saturday, September 13 – Center of Waterfront, 11am – 7pm
Bayfront Concert featuring live entertainment, a business showcase and children’s activities at Pepper Park, South Terminus of Tidelands Avenue. Open houses at Pier 32 Marina, the Historic Depot and Railcar Museum.
Sunday, September 14 – Center of Healthy Living, Noon – 6pm
Health and fitness fair in Kimball Park, 12th Street and D Avenue, in conjunction with the City library open house featuring a dietician who will share healthy meal preparation tips.
Monday, September 15 – Center of Family, 5pm – 8pm
Family night featuring family entertainment and new National City Police Storefront at Plaza Bonita Shopping Mall, 3030 Plaza Bonita Road.
Tuesday, September 16 – Center of Arts & Culture, 4pm – 8pm
Open house at the Civic Center buildings and first online webcast of the City Council meeting, 1243 National City Blvd. Cultural celebration in Kimball Park, 12th Street and D Avenue, featuring Hispanic music and an authentic El Grito.
Wednesday, September 17 – Center of Heritage, 3:30pm – 7:30pm
121st City Birthday celebration and unveiling of the Kyle Morgan bust at Morgan Square, 901 National City Boulevard. Tree lighting and open houses at Brick Row and Kimball House museum.
Thursday, September 18 – Center of Action, 6pm – 8pm
Up close and personal with Mayor Ron Morrison as he presents the State of the City Address at Cornerstone Church, 1920 Sweetwater Road.
Friday, September 19 – Center of Recreation, 3pm – 6pm
Ribbon cutting and ceremony at the Skate Park and Soccer Field at Kimball Park, 12th Street and D Avenue.
Saturday, September 20 – Center of Community, 10am – Noon
Mayor and City Council dish up breakfast at the quarterly Neighborhood Council breakfast at the Martin Luther King Community Center, 140 E. 12th Street.
