6th annual "Gail Badessa Memorial Fund for Cultural Experiences"

As an active volunteer for the spurwink|ri organization, Mixed Media would like to inform you of the upcoming event, a "Celestial Salute to Hollywood." This sixth annual event for the "Gail Badessa Memorial Fund for Cultural Experiences" will be hosted by Barbara Morse Silva of NBC 10, with critically acclaimed film director and Rhode Island native Michael Corrente as honorary chair. The event will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 at the Alpine Country Club in Cranston, RI and will not only provide a night of dancing and fun, but will also help support an organization that provides an invaluable service to our community. spurwink|ri is a non-profit agency serving the needs of hundreds of children and adults with emotional, behavioral, learning, or other developmental disabilities through various educational and therapeutic programs and services.

Gail Badessa, born with developmental disabilities and physical limitations, was a kind, caring, and compassionate person who's passions included music, theatre and traveling with her family. On May 18, 2001, Gail passed away at the age of 42. Established by spurwink|ri, the memorial fund offers opportunities through grants in the areas of arts, music, sports, education and travel to children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral disorders. All of the money raised at the event will go directly into the fund and is distributed through a grant process. Over $15,000 have been rewarded in grants over the past few years alone!

This year's theme celebrates Hollywood and the movies! The pool-side event guarantees a good time with dinner, dancing, live auction and live jazz ensemble during cocktail hour to set the mood. For $75 a person, this year's "Celestial Salute to Hollywood" promises to supplement your charitable contribution with an amazing night you'll never forget.
