It’s that time of year when the World’s Oldest Continuous Rodeo happens right across from the best Rodeo Dance in Payson. Adam Tucker will present a show that will wow the audience with a Tim McGraw Tribute that will recreate the “Country Music Icon”. The timeless sound of Tim McGraw proves appealing to audiences of all ages, bringing back memories and touching the hearts of all. This talented group of musicians showcases Tim McGraw’s' mega-hits from the 90's such as "Don’t Take The Girl", "I Like It, I Love It" and "Everywhere" plus new releases right up to his current radio hits.
Warming up the audience and the dance floor, Mazatzal Hotel & Casino is pleased to have one of the hottest new country artists in Arizona - Cody Gibson. Folks locally know him as Code Blue and you’ll find him playing at Toby Keith’s in Mesa, Matt’s Saloon in Prescott, and Whisky River in Phoenix. Cody Gibson will be the opening and also the closing band for the Rodeo Dance. Another one of Payson’s upcoming celebrities, Candyce will be the MC for this great show and the audience will be delighted to hear her style of country music – because she sings with such passion from the heart.
So what is happening at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino in August that is totally different from other events anywhere?
It’s “The 777Midnight Mechanical Rodeo” that began in 2008 as a way to enjoy Payson’s Town Rodeo and then experience aspects of a rodeo without the danger of riding real bulls, shooting loaded guns or getting tied up in your own roping skills. Mazatzal Hotel & Casino created this event for either the professional cowboy/cowgirl or for “wanna-be’s” that just like to dress in jeans and a hat to feel a part of the Wild West for the night.
Here’s how the “777MMR” works: There are 5 rodeo stations, each one a scored event. Events are: Bareback Jack’s Quick Draw, Legacy Lasso, Rodeo Relay, Tie Down and Bulldacious the Mechanical Bull. Contestants can enter as many events as they want. If a contestant wants to compete for the “All-Around Championship”- they will receive a scorecard at the entrance of the event. A custom “777 MMR” silver belt buckle and two PBR Tickets will be given to the “All-Around” Cowboy and Cowgirl.
