The objective of the Big Read is to encourage people from Worcester County, and surrounding communities, to read and discuss the same book. The Worcester County Library is sponsoring a series of Big Read events related to the novel, "Their Eyes Were Watching God", by Zora Neale Hurston. Come join us as we kick off this exciting month-long event. We will be celebrating the era of Hurston's novel with a 1920's fashion show, a living history performance by Clara Small (professor of history at Salisbury University), and a jazz concert by the renowned University of Maryland - Eastern Shore (UMES) Jazz Band! Free and fun for everyone!

"The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and Arts Midwest, designed to revitalize the role of literature in American popular culture and bring the transformative power of literature into the lives of it's citizens"
