A View From the Lakes: A History of the African American Community of Lakeland February 26, 2009

This exhibit underscores how Lakeland's proximity to the University of Maryland, and its settlement in low lying areas near Lake Artemesia influenced the community's development. The exhibit focuses on the strong religious, educational and cultural ties that evolved and sustained the community for more than 100 years.
