Drawing heavily from art and photographic history, German photographer Achim Lippoth creates images which have a haunting beauty that is both humorous and poignant, as children take center stage within his elaborate sets. Whether it is the purposeful gaze of teasing youngsters in Class of 1954, the apocalyptic staged drama in 'Woelflinge (Little Wolves),' or the 1930's aesthetic of young Germans in Together, Lippoth carefully orchestrates his photographs to show us only what is necessary. The resulting images are arresting, using seductive colors to dramatize events, memories and emotions from our collective past. Achim Lippoth is a celebrated children's photographer whose work has garnered dozens of prominent awards for his editorial photography. His photographs have appeared in some of the most prestigious magazines worldwide and have been exhibited in galleries in Europe and the United States, and in the recent monograph, 'Pictures,' published by Kehrer Verlag in 2007.
