On March 23, 2010 the Madeline Young Speaker series will sponsor guest presentation by Alexandra Fuller, an author who grew up in Africa and now lives in Wyoming. The presentation will take place in the Clare and Josef Meier Hall at 7 p.m.

Additional events will be leading up to the presentation the week before in order to give students, faculty, and community members time to discuss the author’s work and be more fully involved and prepared for Fuller’s presentation.

A book discussion of Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight will be held Tuesday, March 16 in the Grace Balloch Memorial Library at 6:30 PM. The director of the BHSU Honors Program, Dr. Amy Fuqua, will lead the discussion.

Also a Round-Table Discussion of Works by Alexandra Fuller will be held on Wednesday, March 17 in the Honors Lounge (Jonas 103a) at 4:00 PM. You may wish to read any one of the three books, "Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood"; "Scribbling the Cat: Travels with an African Soldier (2004)"; and "The Legend of Colton H. Bryant", before the discussion since the discussion will cover them all.

There are copies of all three non-fiction books by Alexandra Fuller available in the honors lounge for preview and in the bookstore for purchase. For more information or details about the books, email Amy.Fuqua@BHSU.edu or call 605.642.6397.
