Highlighting the diverse musical output surrounding one of the Bard’s most beloved tales, “Where Dreams Dwell” features Costello’s first work for orchestra that has been presented around the globe in recent seasons, Il Sogno. Local radio personality extraordinaire Robert Aubrey Davis will join the ASO as narrator for Costello’s work. Also on the program is Erich Korngold’s ingenious film score for the 1935 Max Reinhardt film on the same story. Korngold incorporated Mendelssohn’s music with his own original material to create this score that started his revolutionary approach to music making within the film industry. These works will be matched by Britten’s own version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
