Alternative Controls for Games & Play Led by Eyebeam Fellow Kaho Abe
10AM-6PM daily // Monday, July 26 – Friday, July 30, 2010 // Course fee: $485
In recent years, alternative game controls like the Wii, Playstation Eye, and Guitar Hero have changed the way we interact with games. A maximum of 14 participants will learn about the possibilities of this vast world of Alternative Game Controls through hands-on demonstrations and experiments playing with various sensors, switches, computer vision, the Arduino, code and more. Through discussions with guest speakers and peers, and the process of designing their own working prototypes, students will understand the fundamentals of technologies that can be used for alternative game controls. This course is geared towards game designers. A basic understanding of game design and coding is required. Some knowledge of physical computing is a plus, yet not required.

EYEBEAM ART & TECHNOLOGY CENTER
STUDIO-BASED SUMMER MASTERCLASSES

Ever wonder what it is like to be a resident at Eyebeam?
Join us this July for a series of week-long, studio-based intensives. Work alongside our Fellows and their collaborators, experimenting and playing with creative uses of the latest tools in art, media, and technology. Walk away with at the very least a working prototype of a project, and of course learn some new skills along the way.
Over the course of the week, you will spend time working and hanging out with the artists, designers, academics, and technologists from around the world that make up our community, and have studio access to studio tools and equipment relevant to your work here. Eyebeam’s studio is located in the heart of NYC’s Chelsea art district, and provides a fertile context for thinking, making and sharing.
