America Recycles Day - Electronic Recycling Collection November 6, 2010

Nov. 6 is America Recycles Day in Rio Rancho

RIO RANCHO, N.M. - Keep Rio Rancho Beautiful (KRRB) is conducting America Recycles Day on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The collection will take place at Wal-Mart, 901 Unser Blvd., in their northeast parking lot.

As part of this citywide collection of recyclable and reusable items, local organizations and businesses will be collecting specific items including:

•Eye glasses
•Hearing aids
•Propane tanks
•Non-perishable food
•Used clothing/shoes of wearable quality
•Bicycles (adult and child)
•Passenger vehicle tires (limit 4, no rims or truck tires)
•Refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves and freezers
•Microwaves
•Washers and dryers
•AC units
•Hot water heaters
•Cardboard
•Office paper
•Newspaper, magazines, used children’s books and coated book stock
•All plastics #1 thru #7
•Aluminum, copper, brass, steel, bronze, stainless steel and metals
•Computers, scanners, monitors, printers and ink/printer cartridges
•VCRs, DVD players, and televisions
•CDs, DVDs and VHS Tapes and cases
•Copiers and fax machines
•Cell phones and digital phones
•Rechargeable batteries

The collection is for Rio Rancho residents only and subject to weather. Trash (household and yard), animal waste, biomedical and hazardous waste will not be accepted. Household items such as furniture, lawnmowers, barbecue grills and exercise equipment will also not be accepted.

Beneficiaries of the event include Shining Stars Preschool, Rio Rancho Host Lion’s Club, Kiwanis, Bolton Iron Works, Storehouse West, St. Felix Pantry, Alpha Appliance Recyclers, Enchantment Electronic Recycling, and Community Bicycle Recycling Program.
