SALSA AND SAMBA WITH SOUL! Anna Acevedo Lyman is Mexican-American and was born and raised in Detroit, the home of Motown Soul. She writes much of her Latin and Jazz and Funk Music, and delights in sharing the Motown Soul that made an impression on her during her youth and childhood. Bio below:
Bio: Anna Acevedo Lyman is half Latinamerican and was born in Detroit, the legendary home of Motown Soul. As a child, she listened to everything from her Caribbean Stepfather's pop music, Sergio Mendes' Bossa Nova, Cuban dance music, to Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and the big Motown Stars.
A feature of Anna's music is the combination of Bluenotes and Blues progressions into her Salsa, Bossa, and Bolero tunes. Lyrics in both English and Spanish appear in nearly every tune. Her lyrics are "historias" about the sea, life, and Romance.
Anna has appeared at EXPO-the World's Fair, The Victoria Interational Jazzfest, Pender Harbour Jazzfest, CBC Radio, "North by Northwest", "Hot Air", KJAZZ, and more... She received much of her formal music education in British Columbia, Canada
