Sue Jeffers Announces Campaign for Governor

Sue Jeffers plans to formally announce her bid for Governor of Minnesota as a Libertarian Monday, January 23 from her small business Stub & Herbs in Minneapolis. Jeffers, a long-time small business advocate, is running a campaign to put â??people before politicsâ?.Â

"My first priority as governor will be to get Minnesota off the list of the top 10 highest taxing states in the country," Jeffers stated. "Since we pay 47% of our income in federal, state, and local taxes, we have less to spend on health care, higher education, a down payment on a new home, retirement, and many other priorities for your family. Itâ??s no wonder why itâ??s more difficult to achieve the 'American Dream'. There is so much potential for real change and growth for Minnesota."

"Education reform isn't enough" says Jeffers. "More funding must get to the classroom. We must let our teachers teach and reward them for innovation and results."

"High taxes and over-regulation are crippling Minnesota's small businesses. Democrats and Republicans have betrayed Minnesotans by implementing 'fees', higher taxes, larger class sizes, more business regulations, all while the middle class is shrinking," she said.

"I will be the voice of the voter, the voice of reason and the voice of common sense. I can provide the strong, creative leadership Minnesota needs. Working together we can take Minnesota in a new direction. With empowered citizens we can hold government accountable and solve the real issues facing our state."

"For the past decade, we have been going in the wrong direction, and people have been telling me they're ready for a change," she said. "People are ready for a breath of fresh air in Minnesota politics."

The Jeffers campaign will tour Minnesota to discuss key issues including education, health care, property rights, public safety, and the economy.

Sue Jeffers will make her announcement with a rally of local supporters at Stub & Herbs Restaurant (227 Oak St. SE Minneapolis, MN 55414) on Monday, January 23 at 4pm.
