Blue Moon audiences may not know Antje Duvekot yet, but by the end of her set of a co-bill with Natalia Zukerman, she will be a great new friend for those who appreciate the new folk movement. Antje Duvekot (AN-tyuh DOO-va-kot) is a German-born, American-raised singer-songwriter who has risen to the top of the competitive Boston singer-songwriter scene. In 2006 with the release of her debut studio CD Big Dream Boulevard, Antje is now attracting national attention. In a feature article before Antje's Newport Folk Festival debut, The Boston Globe mentions, "Duvekot's first studio CD Big Dream Boulevard, produced by Solas founder Seamus Egan, marks the most convincing debut by any local songwriter since Dar Williams' Honesty Room in 1993. Duvekot's songs feel at once fresh-faced and firmly rooted, driven by the whispery sensuality of her voice. Like Williams, she believes in the redemptive power of the shared secret; and she is utterly unafraid to mine the darkest corners of her life for songs that turn fear into resilience, and isolation into community." Natalia Zukerman returns to the Blue Moon and is one of our favorite new artists--and we are delighted to have her as part of a co-bill with Antje Duvekot! Natalia has a sound that's strong yet delicate, gentle yet insistent. You can call the music she makes folk if you want, but there's jazz in it, too, and blues, and a soulful something or other that you can't quite put into words. Whether on stage or on record, she presents herself just as she is-no gimmicks, no flashy pyrotechnics, only the solid musicianship of someone who knows and loves her craft. Natalia is touring in support of her latest CD, Brand New Frame. Brand New Frame, is her first with producer and Blue Moon favorite, guitar slinger Willy Porter. Musically sophisticated, intimate and irreverent all at once, this record highlights what’s best about Americana music and offers it a her rich layers of top notch guitar playing, contemporary beats and dark, sweet, provocative vocals. Join us for a great night a music with two rising talents in the world of acoustic music—Natalia Zukerman and Antje Duvekot. For more about Natalia, check out her web site at:www.nataliazukerman.com
