I find 'leveraging a commuity' is a misnomer and contradictory to improving your relationship with your customers.
Give your customers tools and features they can leverage for their own benefit and you'll improve your relationship with them and they will think more fondly of your advertisers. Leverage your community for the sake of your advertisers and it won't be long before you have no community to market to.
