Nonprofit organization, Festive Evolution, is facilitating this convocation of women to discuss the role of the artist in effecting social change. The fundamental principle of Festive Evolution is that artists are among the greatest agents of change in the world. Artists have the power to give voice to the voiceless, to tell the stories that most need to be told, and to inspire their audience (big or small) to participate actively in making the world a better place.
Facilitator, Sara Sharpe, explains, “Female artists can play a pivotal role at this choice point in history. Part of why we meet is to have a discussion about what it is we can do right here in Nashville to create and support art that moves the people and changes the world. We are actors, writers, musicians, music video producers, singers, etc., and our definition of ‘artist’ casts a wide net.”
