Astoria Jazz Band: Women Composers of Queens November 16, 2007

Featured composers include Sarah McLawler, Emme Kemp, Julie Mandel, Jutta Hipp, Billie Holiday and other great women of the classical, jazz and pop worlds. Kemp's stunning jazz ballet "First Awakening" features interpretive dancer Yvonne Curry. panel discussion by several of the senior women composers including McLawler will precede the concert at 7 pm, and an open jam session will follow the concert at 9:30 P.M. until 11 (all musicians welcome).
