The average room air conditioner used in Ontario's homes today generates 1.3 tonnes of carbon dioxide yearly. These old, inefficient room air conditioners can use 30 - 70% more electricity than new ENERGY STAR.

Bring in your old room air conditioner to a Home Depot in Toronto, Belleville, Windsor and Newmarket and you'll receive a $25 Home Depot gift card to use on anything in the store.

In Belleville and Windsor ONLY you can also bring in your old, halogen floor lamp and receive a $30 discount off an energy efficient compact fluorescent floor lamp . Halogen lamps can be a fire hazard and use up to 70% more energy than ENERGY STAR® models.

EnWin, Newmarket Hydro, Toronto Hydro, Veridian Connections and The Home Depot will work with the Clean Air Foundation to ensure that all old room air conditioners and halogen floor lamps are recycled in an environmentally responsible way.
