Beekeeping Basics August 5, 2009

Beekeeping Basics at the Institute for Sustainable Living, Art & Natural Design (ISLAND) property, in Bellaire. Workshop on beekeeping basics and preparing for your first hive(s) next spring. We will cover essential tools and equipment, basic bee care, ideal hive location, and gardening for hive health. We will visit an active hive, and guest beekeeper will be Jay DeKorne. There will be a drawing for beekeeping items, including a bee "nuc" valued at $100, donated by Hilton's Honey Farm of Grant MI. You'll also take home lots of literature.
