Irvine Institute for Environmental Education - BEHAVIOR AND ECOLOGY OF HONEYBEES, 2 Sessions. Honeybees are truly fascinating insects. They have evolved a complex social life, including division of labor, dance languages, unique architecture and many other survival adaptations. Learn the difference between drones, workers and queens, how bees make honey, some problems they are facing, and their important role as pollinators. The Saturday session will include a trip inside Irvine's hives and we will sample some of their honey. Instructor: Robert Mardiney, Director of Education, Irvine Nature Center.
