Irina Muresanu violin Tchaikovsky Capriccio Italien Prokofiev Lieutenant Kije Sibelius Concerto for Violin in D minor Help send the GJSO off on its journey around the world with their opening night concert, Bon Voyage! Lending influence to Italian street music and folk tunes, Tchaikovskys Capriccio italien kicks-off the GJSOs 32nd season, Postcards. Internationally acclaimed and award-winning violinist Irina Muresanu will perform Sibelius Violin Con-certo. Prokofievs Lieutenant Kije, a suite based on music from the film by the same name, features saxophone and the famous fourth movement, Troika. Muresanu has performed with numerous ensembles around the world, and is currently on the faculties of the Boston Conservatory and the Music Department at MIT. Recent engagements as soloist include concerts with the Boston Pops, the Syracuse Symphony, the Boston Philharmonic, and the Miami Symphony Orchestra among others.
