Takeaways from the seminar

The objective of the seminar is to provide an understanding of the business value of IP and related risks to companies. The seminar will start with a session by Professor Anil Suraj from IIM, Bangalore, who will give an insight into the use of IP for business advantage. In this session, the participants will learn about various ways in which IP can add value to businesses and the modes by which such value can be obtained.

The second session of the seminar on IP Protection will be delivered by Mr. Nishant Kewalramani, IP Portfolio Manager and alumni of Pierce Law, USA,. This session will deal with various steps to be taken for protecting IP in an organization. From this session, the participants will gain an understanding of various types of IP, requirements for their protection and the measures to be taken by a company in order to protect IP.

The next session by Dr. Kalyan Kankanala, Chief Knowledge Officer, will deal with steps to be taken by companies for avoiding IP Risks. The session will cover risks to companies from various types of IP such as patents, trademarks, trade secrets, designs and so on. In this session, the participants will learn about risks to the company from IP of third parties and steps to be taken to avoid such risks.

The last session on IP Mining will be delivered by Mr.Kartik, Senior Patent Analyst and Mr.Vijay, Senior Trademark Analyst. The session will cover various techniques and strategies for mining IP filed and owned by third parties. From this session, the participants will get an insight into databases and methods used for searching for patents, trademarks and related strategies.
