Canoe Trek April 10, 2011

Explore the Barataria Preserve's waterways on a ranger-guided canoe trek. Watch for waterlilies in bloom, egrets and herons, alligators, and more! Bring your bug spray and water; no food or alcohol allowed. Treks are limited to ten canoes, so reservations are required; call the preserve at 504-689-3690 ext 10. The trek is free; canoe and kayak rentals are available from Bayou Barn (504-589-2663) near the preserve. (Please note: no canoe trek on Sunday, April 17, during the Spring in the Swamp event.) The Barataria Preserve is located at 6588 Barataria Blvd. in Marrero near Crown Point.
