On January 26, world-renowned jazz trumpet player, Carl Fischer and his high-energy, All-Star 9-piece “Nouveau” Big Band will continue to validate their growing reputation as the hands-down-must-see music attraction in New York. Hosting Fischer’s band monthly due to overwhelming demand from positive reviews and social media response, Astoria’s magnificent Astor Room will present two sets from 830-1130 PM (No cover charge and free parking).
“We are incredibly thrilled to be a featured monthly attraction at the Astor Room,” said Fischer, who has played with Maynard Ferguson, Billy Joel, Wynton Marsalis’ Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Blood, Sweat and Tears, Diana Ross, and many others. “We’ve played to packed houses there and a video clip of a recent performance generated tremendous positive response on Facebook and You Tube. As a result, I’ve been inundated with positive comments from around the globe about the band and the great gig at the Astor Room,” he added.
The “Nouveau” Big Band features some of New York’s finest “first call” jazz musicians and performs high-power, screaming brass-featured selections reminiscent of the work of Maynard Ferguson, Jaco Pastorious and others. The band’s January 26 performance will be joined by Philadelphia’s own Chris Farr, one of the busiest and most exciting sax players around. As was the case last month when Fischer’s smaller group “Organic Groove Ensemble” celebrated its 10-year anniversary by joining the “Nouveau” group performance, the January big band gig is expected to be another packed-house hit.
“The ‘Nouveau’ band carries a very special character and energy, as does the fabulous Astor Room,” said Fischer. “The incredible excitement generated by these fine musicians and the marvelous music we play there, combined with intimacy and great dining of The Astor Room, offers our guests a truly magnificent, don’t-miss-it music and dining experience.
