The Irvine Institute for Environmental Education CHESAPEAKE BAY ECOLOGY, 9 Sessions. The Chesapeake Bay estuary is the most complex aquatic environment on earth. This course provides an overview of the physical and chemical processes, and biological communities that make up the Bay. Learn about the forces that drive the Chesapeake Bay: geology, salinity gradients, tides and the ecological relationships of the Bay's flora and fauna. The integration of all these features demonstrates how this body of water, although massive, is extremely fragile. Instructor: Dr. Sarah Haines, Assistant Professor of Biology, Towson University.
