Did you know there was a Classical Ballet Holiday Gala this Sunday featuring dances from the Nutcracker? How would you like to be a part of the show? The Columbus Arts Council is seeking volunteers to serve as the state crew this Sunday! Volunteers are needed at the MUW Rent Auditorium at 9 a.m. to help get ready for the show.

During load in, four stagehands (for about 1 hour) are needed to unload the truck and distribute the suitcases to the appropriate areas backstage as well as to unload, assemble an position the various props. During the show, we will need someone to be on the light board along with our stage manager if there are difficulties/equipment malfunctions during the show, and to direct the efforts of the, two follow-spot operators. We will need one man, back stage, to open and close the main curtain. There will be a requirement for fly men during each act, since the backdrops will be changed except during act as well as during the intermission.

Wardrobe. The company members are primarily responsible for their costumes, but we would like to have two wardrobe persons available from about 2 hours prior to curtain to assist in ironing, steaming and emergency repairs, as necessary. You should plan on providing two ironing boards, two steam irons and two professional quality steamers to be used in preparing the costumes. During load-out (which will normally be accomplished immediately after the last performance), our stage manager, and our sound engineer will be primarily responsible for packing, our costumes and properties, but we will need stagehands and wardrobe for about one hour to help pack, carry the packed properties and costumes to and help load them into our truck/bus, as well as to roll, bag and load our dance floor (if used).

This is a great opportunity for any students in the art department or any seasoned volunteers! Call me today!
