'Close to Home' presents photographs made during the past three decades by both established and emerging artists. On display are 32 color and black-and-white photographs from the Smithsonian American Art Museum's permanent collection by nine contemporary photographers: Tina Barney, Virginia Beahan, Christopher Dawson, Muriel Hasbun, Martina Lopez, Elaine O'Neil, Larry Sultan, Margaret Strickland, and Carrie Will. The exhibition includes many new acquisitions, which will be on view at the museum for the first time. Toby Jurovics, formerly the museum's curator of photography, selected the photographs in the installation.

Hey folks, my night is looking like going to this Flickr meet, followed by hitting up the metric show, and then heading out dancing at my friend's place, Club Future, for anybody who would like to join in the festivities.
What happens at one of these things?
Alas, I have been hit with one of the strains of HeebieJeebies that's going around, so I'll have to miss the festivities. I'll be there in spirit, though (since I don't think spirits can pass nasty head colds along to other people).
Have fun (and have one of those big honkin' pieces of cake for me)!

It was awesome seeing everyone last night! Looking forward all the fun next month.
