Miller Theatre celebrates the centenary of one of the most formidable and visionary composers of the 20th century, Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992). Forging his own original musical voice, Messiaen pulled from many sources for inspiration in his music -- his own fervent Catholic faith, the music of birds, and Japanese and Indian traditions. The Axiom Ensemble returns to Miller to perform three works rarely heard in concert, including 'Et Exspecto Resurrectionem Mortuorum', an overpoweringly dramatic work, with a shimmering collection of brass, winds and percussion.
