Create Visions July 18, 2008

This workshop is about bringing out the fun and creative nature that is innate in ALL children. The story-telling and improvisational aspects encourage the children to develop their own performances - to learn without even realizing they are "learning" about creativity.

In many summer and after-school programs we see things that are not working as well as they could:

• Extreme competition: Often kids are scared - intimidated or
become the intimidator.
• No winner - no loser: While the notion is appealing - kids are
losing focus and not sure how to "handle themselves" in a world of
wins and losses.

In Create Visions© - there is a first time of meeting in the middle - competitive for those that need that type of motivation, fair and accepting for those that desire that type of inspiration:

Those who are competitive and eager to get on the stage work in tandem with those who may be less comfortable with the spotlight. In a performance – all types are needed and all challenges exist. With
Create Visions©, there is no expected level of anxiety for the children - but there is collaboration!

The children experience all the aspects of designing and delivering their own theatrical performance through a guided story-telling exercise. When the 10 days ends the final product is a performance on a world-famous stage. Not only do these children engage on creativity, but they also learn team building, strategy, goal setting – and they have fun!

Because Susan Adler George -writer, artist and teacher - guides it there is a balance of creativity and focus, and learning in a safe, inspiring setting. Never before has something so unusual and creative for “children-only” been offered at the Theatre Project, using its premier stage for the culmination of the Children's self-created performance.
