Hey buddy, where'd you get that 10-foot salamander? The Triassic was certainly the heyday of the amphibians, and New Mexico has its share of them in the fossil record. For the past three years NMMNHS field crews have been digging some world-class deposits of metoposaurs and capitosaurs, and our ongoing research has opened new windows into the lifestyle and biology of these animals. We will discuss their world-wide occurrence, some questions about their life history, and some of the answers that our research has provided. We will also visit the Triassic Hall, the prep lab, and the paleontology collection to see their fossils. Pre-registration required.
