Boyertown Goes to the Dogs on August 15

DDog Days of August, to be hosted on August 15, begins at the Boyertown Farmers' Market from 10-1 on South Reading Avenue featuring Dr. Jennifer Fry of Banfield, The Pet Hospital and a (Reiki Master) who will host the "Doggie Day Spa". Dogs can receive Reiki massage, to maintain their natural state of well-being and balance and an Orthpedic Adjustment, to keep them moving well. All free at the spa.

At noon, the market will present a Junior Pet First Aid class for children. Taught by certified veterinary technician, Sharon Lee, there will be demonstrations, information and handouts.

Beginning at 1:00 activities will continue at a Pet Expo to be held at the Civic Walkway, the entrance to the Inner Core parking lot on South Reading Avenue as well as various locations throughout Downtown Boyertown. The Expo will feature free toe and nail trimmings by Dr. Fry and members of the Banfield Pet Hospital and Fuzzy Days for all "good doggies", a K-9 Unit demo by Douglass Township Police SGT John W. Dzurek,dog agility demos, dog and pet exhibits provided by vendors such as GIGI's at Home Pet Care LLC, Fuzzy Days, Franknbean LLC, Pupcicles given out by Rita's Water Ice of Boyertown, the Kiwanis Club of Boyertown will be hosting their "Hot dog Cafe", and pet rescue groups will be set up for those interested in adding an addition to their family until 4:00. From 2:00- 4:00 stop in at the Historic State Theatre, 61 N. Reading Ave. to to place you and your pooch in the spotlight walking the red carpet and smiling for the Puperatzi (awards will be given for best in show).

As your dog is taking you for a walk around the vendors, stop at the Spotted Dog Barkery, 18 South Reading Avenue, to cool off at the Puppy Pool Party 1-4 (swim suits optional for all pets). A Dog/Owner Look-A-Like contest will be hosted at the Spotted Dog Barkery, register your dog for the contest prior to the event at either the Boyertown Farmers Market, Saturdays 10-1 or by calling the Spotted Dog Barkery, 610.473.2333.

Pet watering stations will be sponsored by The Boyertown Farmers Market, S. Reading Ave., Gracefully Framed, 39 E. Phila Ave., The Spotted Dog Barkery, 18 S. Reading Ave., The Historic State Theatre, 61. N. Reading Ave., Bauses Super Dug Store, 42 E. Phila. Ave., and Zimmers Pets, 51 E. Phila. Ave.

Drop off stations for donating pet food, blankets, towels and toys (in good condition) for local animal shelters will be located at
The Boyertown Farmers Market, S. Reading Ave., The Auto Tag Place, 30 S. Reading Ave, Spotted Dog Barkery 18 S. Reading Ave., Bauses Super Drug Store, 42 E. Phila. Ave and Zimmers Pets, 51 E. Phila. Ave.

Downtown specials will be available at Gracefully Framed with the offer of a second mat free on any framing job, $5 off of any notary service, and an in-door yard sale at The Auto Tag Place, an art exhibit at Studio B, Bauses Super Drug Store will have special "goody" bags for every DOG and owner that stops by, Zimmers Pets will be hosting games and FREE dog training lessons, and the Historic State Theatre will be handing out pupcorn for the dogs and popcorn for their owners.

Public restrooms will be available at Zimmers Pets and the Spotted Dog Barkery.

Parking will be available in the lots of: Good Shepherd and St. John's Churches and the Inner Core Parking Lot.
