Our 2006 Duck Derby Is Scheduled For
May 20 AND 21st and will be held at the Riverside Day Use Area!

About The Annual Duck Derby

Each year in May, we race tens of thousands of "adopted ducks" down the river to the Finish Line. This year, the River changes to the Etowah River! Just below the dam which creates Lake Allatoona, 2 minutes from Highway 41 and 5 minutes from I-75, the Army Corps of Engineers is allowing us to use the spacious and gorgeous Riverside Day Use Area.

This year, for the Fifth Annual event, we have a theme: Duckstock! Resurrect or recreate your best tie-dyed shirts and bell bottoms, and "be sure to wear some flowers in your hair!" And... the first 100 active duty or retired military to arrive in uniform get a free duck!

Planning begins in December. Enthusiastic volunteers plan the festival, chair committees, sell adoptions, do data entry, plan the duck labeling party and the Quackers and Cheese party, work with the media, and the list goes on, merrily down the stream.

Duck Derby Events - It's Now Two Days of Fun!

The Duck Derby festivities begin with the Duck Dash 5k Race that takes place at the Cartersville Soccer Complex on Pine Grove Road. At the park, our favorite DJ's, The Tom and Chad Show, will entertain all day Saturday and Sunday, (whenever the performers aren't on stage)...continue throughout both days with music, dancing, games, great food, art, souvenirs, and of course, the Ducky Dance.
