On Friday, November 2 the historic Grand Opera House in downtown Oshkosh welcomes a performance that could save the life of someone you love.

“Dying To Be Thin” is a witty and inspirational look behind locked doors into the secret life of a young teenager battling an eating disorder. Written by Linda Carson, a survivor of the devastating condition bulimia nervosa, “Dying to Be Thin” tells the story of 17-year-old Amanda Jones, a teen who equates being skinny with being happy.

On the surface, Amanda’s war is with food, but in truth, food is the weapon she uses in a battle with low self-esteem. This one-woman play unfolds to tell the poignant story of Amanda, as she sets out to have her "last ever in her whole life binge" but gradually realizes that she needs help. The one-hour performance is a powerful look inside issues of body image and peer pressure.

Performed by the Roseneath Theatre Company of Ontario, Canada, “Dying to be Thin” will include a post-performance discussion sponsored by Aurora Health Care

Note: This show is recommended for teens and adults; appropriate for grades 7 to 12. Tickets $10-$13
