We are delighted to announce that the Honorable George H. W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush have accepted our invitation to be Honorary Chairs.

In addition, we are thrilled to have as our special guests and honorees, Mao’s Last Dancer, the former Houston Ballet Principal Dancer, Li Cunxin and his beloved dance partner, DAA’s current President, and former Prima Ballerina of Houston Ballet, Janie Parker.



The Gala includes:

1) Janie Parker and Li Cunxin reflecting on their personal and professional partnership and breathtaking highlights of their dancing in “Esmeralda”
2) Live performance by DAA Company
3) Seated dinner, silent auction, and dancing

4) Golden Dragon sponsors and above, “Back Stage Pass” before the Gala VIP reception at 5:00PM with Janie Parker and Li Cunxin

Houston’s renowned Mitsi Shen, and her daughter, Janie Yao, with the vision of bringing the rich cultures and traditions of China to America, through authentic Chinese dance, founded dance of Asian America in 2001. Greater Houston Weekly previously voted DAA “Best of ALL the Best” for DANCE. Its productions at Miller Outdoor Theatre have one of the highest audience attendances reaching over 6,500 people. DAA was selected as 1 of 11 Best dance Companies presented in the 2009 National Dance USA Conference in Houston and was the only cultural company selected. Each year, DAA presents more than 40 public educational programs and performances in various venues, locally and nationally, reaching more than 35,000 patrons.
