Empire is a typical "La Fura dels Baus" production, a Spanish avant-courier theater organization, with unordinary show place, a stage language with absolute body and technique advantage, while audiences became one part of the performance. Empire explored the conflict between person and collectivity. Imperialism is described as a relationship between person and social community, with one party should conquer or submit to the other party without any listening or diversity. As this pattern rose up to the basic pattern of human relation, the difference between two parties became a threat with a sequence of the bend of physical and mental or the cannibalism of people. Then, the imperialism would be reversed or canceled.

Established in 1979, "La Fura dels Baus" in Spain is an innovative theater with constant improvements in performing arts. Since the debut of "Accions" in 1983, "La Fura dels Baus" astonished both audiences and critics internationally and conquered over 3 million audiences throughout their more than 2,500 shows all over the world.
