The Junior Board of Esperanza Community Services will hold the inaugural Monster Mask-arade on Saturday, October 29, from 8-11 pm. Featuring drinks, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, and more in a mask and costume factory on the city’s north side, the Monster Mask-arade will benefit Esperanza Community Services, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and adults with developmental disabilities become as independent as possible.
Zagone Studios, known as a maker of form-fitting and realistic masks (including the infamous Nun mask used during a bank heist scene in the Ben Affleck movie The Town), will host the event. “I’m a big believer in Esperanza Community Services and the work that they do,” says Tony Zagone, owner of Zagone Studios. “We participate in Esperanza’s vocational program that helps students learn job-readiness skills. This event sounded like so much fun, we had to get involved!”
Amanda Trew, Esperanza Junior Board President, says that she and the rest of the Junior Board are going all out to get ready for the event. “The Monster Mask-arade will be the Junior Board’s first major fundraiser for Esperanza,” says Trew. “We’re going all out to make it an exciting and unforgettable night out.” The Junior Board formed earlier this year around a core of long-term volunteers as a way to engage a younger audience of supporters with Esperanza. The event is expected to draw a mix of current supporters and new faces, with an emphasis on young professionals. “Not only are we putting on an incredible Halloween event in a very unique and appropriate location, we’re doing it to give back to a wonderful nonprofit organization.” The Halloween theme carries through all aspects of the event, including the sponsorship levels, which include Count Dracula, Wolfman and Zombie.
The Monster Mask-arade is Saturday, October 29 from 8-11 pm at Zagone Studios, 2600 W. Irving Park Road in Chicago. Tickets are $50 in advance from EsperanzaCommunity.org, or $60 at the door. For sponsorship information or to purchase tickets by phone, please call 312.243.6097, x 17. The Monster Mask-arade is sponsored by Fantasy Costumes and Zagone Studios.
