Organized by the University of New Mexico's Tamarind Institute, Migrations features the work of Steven Deo (Creek/Euchee), Tom Jones(Ho Chunk), Larry McNeil (Tlingit/Nisgaa), Ryan Lee Smith (Cherokee), Star Wallowing Bull (Chippewa/Arapaho), and Marie Watt (Seneca). They were selected because they engage in contemporary art raionally considered 'Native American art.'A The Midwest Book Review noted that Migrations is both an essential exhibit and stands well alone as an important survey. The Bloomsbury Review added that the exhibition provides ...powerful testimony to the impossibility of finding any simple definitions of Native art. The prints highlight the diversity of vision and practice among the artists. The exhibition is accompanied by an extensive catalogue with essays by Jo Ortel, Lucy Lippard, Kathleen Howe, and Gerald McMaster. Museum Hours: Monday - Friday:9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Weekends: Noon:4 p.m. First Fridays of each month:9 a.m. - 9 p.m.
