Common Ground is thrilled to welcome back the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Preview Tour once again this year. As always, this year promises to be a special treat. Among the artists selected for the tour this year is Common Ground favorite, Anthony Da Costa (see profile in Decembers concert entry). Joining the 16 year old Pleastantville phenom will be Lindsay Mac, Joe Crookston and Randall Williams. Classically trained cellist and singer-songwriter Lindsay Mac offers a fresh look at acoustic music by combining folk/pop structure with plucked and bowed cello. Wonderfully diverse and memorable, her music has roots in jazz, folk, Americana, funk and rock while not tasting like any specific genre. Joe Crookston was born and raised in rural Ohio with Hungarian musical blood in his veins, and a passion for music that he inherited from his late mother, a prolific gospel singer/songwriter and accordion polka wizard. His guitar playing, bubbling banjo and creative performance style exude a remarkable intergenerational, universal, and timeless quality. Randall Williams has been singing since childhood. He picked up his first acoustic guitar at age 14, and never let it go. Within one year, he began performing. After leaving the U.S. for the first time, Randall found his own folk/popular musical heritage being influenced by European traditions. The French-speaking acoustic guitarists Georges Moustaki and Francis Cabrel as well as Germans Reinhard Mey and Bettina Wegener made an indelible mark on his musical vocabulary.
Tickets are: $15 for individuals, and $10 for seniors and youth aged 12-18. Kids under 12 are free.
