Ezra, I'm willing to read if you need me.
Chris, your comments are thoughtful. I myself am new to screenwriting--although not to writing--and had never thought of trying to produce a film myself. I would be very willing to help others, although I'm not sure what skills I have that others might need.

It's great that we do read throughs and discuss each other's work, but does anyone else feel that we should help each other out with actual filmmaking? I like the group but once we're done discussing everyone just goes their seperate ways. Maybe I'm the only one but I would like to assist artists with their craft (short or feature) and down the line hopefully someone can assist me. The only way we are really going to get better is by becoming production assistants, helping with writing, directing, and editing. In the past I have tried to make two short films, it was very hard because I had to assume all the roles (casting director, etc.) Both of those films never got made because I didn't have back-up actors and It was overwhelming to assume all those positions. I assume we are all struggling artists, because not many people would be attending a local screenwriter's group and working for New Line Cinema at the same time.
So the basic questions I'm asking are...
Does anyone want help with their filmmaking process?
And is anyone willing to offer their help to other's filmmaking process?
