Fire Following: Longer Legacies April 30, 2011

Join Arborist and Nursery Manager, Bruce Reed, on a hike into the Santa Ynez Valley to look critically at the Aliso Loop trail in the Los Padres National Forest. This burn is now five years in the past though that is far from obvious to the casual observer. Emphasis will be on plant identification, types of succession, regeneration strategies of plants and comparisons of disturbed and un-disturbed areas. The hike will be moderately challenging. Please bring a lunch, water, protection from sun and wind, etc. Long pants and close-toed shoes are strongly recommended. Meet at the Garden Entrance. Online registration available.
