Fire Following: Recent Disturbances March 12, 2011

Join Arborist and Nursery Manager, Bruce Reed, on a hike examining two of our recent burn areas. Emphasis will be on plant identification, types of succession, regeneration strategies of plants and comparisons of disturbed and un-disturbed areas. The morning will focus on publicly accessible areas of the Jesusita fire and the afternoon will focus on private and National Forest land regenerating from the Gap fire. The afternoon will be a moderately challenging hike. Please bring a lunch, water, protection from sun and wind, etc. Long pants and close-toed shoes strongly recommended.
