Sisters are doing it for themselves in this big-hearted anthem to freedom and heritage. The tropes and trials of the Old West are given fresh currency when seen through the eyes of African-American women, fleeing racism and the wreckage of Reconstruction. They find big sky and bigger dreams on the prairie, but all they’ve won hangs in the balance as a scoundrel schemes and bullets fly. Rip-snorting, yee-hawing, hornswoggling…Yippee ki-yay, girlfriend!
