Marblehead Little Theatre is offering a five day "Food Festival Week" Tuesday through Saturday 1/15-19.MLThopes in the dark days of January we will welcome movie lovers to a series of virtual feasts at the Firehouse Theatre on School Street.
We begin with Ang Lee's first movie made in Taiwan, "Eat Drink Man Woman" that tells the story of a retired and widowed Chinese master chef and his family living in modern day Taipei.At the start of the film, he lives with his three attractive daughters, all of whom are unattached. The three daughters represent three stereotypes of woman:
• the oldest one an old maid school teacher with a broken heart;
• the middle one the career woman who is afraid of commitment;
• the youngest one the school girl who is growing up to be a woman.
As the film progresses, each daughter encounters new men. When these new relationships blossom, the stereotypes are broken and the living situation within the family changes. The film ends with a surprise involving the chef himself. The film is Rated PG.
The Firehouse Theatre doors open at 6:30 with the film beginning promptly at 7. Tickets at the door are $5. We also offer a "10 Pass" for $40 that is fully transferable and never expires. It can be used for multiple entries to the same film.
