Frank Cassara ＆ Chia-Hao Hsieh Mallet Percussion Concert 法蘭克‧卡薩拉 ＆ 謝家豪鍵盤打擊樂音樂會 August 23, 2009

Summer 2009 in Taiwan, two versatile percussionists, Frank Cassara, and Chia-Hao Hsieh will present their first “mallet” percussion concert in Forum Music Theater in Taipei (8/23, PM7:30) and Little Theater in Yuanlin (8/16, PM7:30). Repertoires will range from contemporary to jazz, including Steve Reich, Philip Glass, Astor Piazzola and Antonio Carlos Jobim. Many melodic tunes will be transcribed for the marimba and vibraphone duo version.

A native of New York and a member of Philip Glass’s ensemble, Frank Cassara, now is serving as a percussion coordinate at the City University of the New York. He has regularly worked and performed with many important American composers, such as Philip Glass, John Cage and Steve Reich. Frank has premiered many contemporary, new music works and appeared at major festivals around the world. As a native of Taiwan, percussion artist Chia-Hao Hsieh is now pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. His musical interpretation is unique, and he dedicates himself to exploring all the beautiful music in his music career.

國內新生代打擊樂家謝家豪旅美期間不間斷的演出與創作，本次更結合了美國當代最活躍之著名打擊樂大師法蘭克•卡薩拉( Frank Cassara )聯合演出，為台灣聽眾帶來一場與美國紐約同步的全新製作。
本活動最大的特色是直接引介世界當代最為前衛的打擊樂作品來台演出，預備帶給台灣喜愛擊樂、前衛以及現代民族風格音樂的聽眾們一場結合震撼、獨創、以及內心深沉的多面向音樂饗宴。在本場音樂會中，當代擊樂大師法蘭克•卡薩拉，身為菲利浦•葛拉斯樂團一員，將會為台灣帶來當代電影配樂大師菲利浦•葛拉斯( Philip Glass )的作品最精湛、最契合作曲家想法的權威詮釋。此外，在現代極簡主義大師萊許( Steve Reich )與巴西的芭沙諾瓦音樂之父裘賓( Antonio Carlos Jobim )的音樂中，我們也可以欣賞到前衛爵士與現代民俗風的音樂風格。此外，出身自彰化員林的台灣新生代擊樂家謝家豪，雖然年輕但已經具有豐富的教學、創作、與演出經驗，2008年赴美深造後更同時登上北美舞台，本次亦將與卡薩拉大師同台演出，更能讓台灣聽眾欣賞到本國優秀音樂家與大師所共同敲擊出精彩的擊樂火花。
