Gifts for the Homeless, Inc. (GFTH) is a non-profit corporation comprised of lawyers and staff from area law firms and other legal organizations that has been serving the homeless of Washington, D.C. since 1986. GFTH holds a used clothing drive each December to serve area shelters and also raises money used to purchase new clothing for homeless men, women and children. Every dollar GFTH receives from donors is used to purchase essential clothing for the homeless in the DC metropolitan area.

The 2010 annual Used Clothing Drive will be held on December 3-5. We will again sort donated clothing and other items at The Portals III on D Street between 12th and 13th Streets SW. We hope you can participate!

GFTH has held a used clothing drive every year since 1989. Over the years, the drive has expanded exponentially – with fewer than 1,000 bags of clothing distributed the first year to more than 4,500 large bags distributed to more than 60 area shelters in 2006, and from a handful of volunteers to several hundred volunteers!

This is a fun, rewarding event over one weekend and a chance to do something good and meet other professionals in the community. Download information and materials from the 2010 clothing drive on gfth.org, including volunteer forms, donation information, used clothing drive map, and more!

Please bring any used clothing, etc. donations with you -- and any that you collect from friends, family, coworkers and your community. We need as many donations as possible -- please see our website for exactly what is in need.
