High Desert Opera will present Gilbert & Sullivan's, The Sorcerer in July at The Montrose Pavilion.
The Sorcerer is a two act "Opera Comique". The plot thickens when Alexis, son of Sir Pointdextre & Aline, daughter of Lady Sangazure, declare being in love is an earthly joy. Alexis believes that marriage is the cure for every ill. Aline agrees and to Alexis; delight he announces his plans to buy a love potion from a very reputable family of sorcerers. Aline is a bit frightened by the whole idea.
The philtre (potion) affects only those who are unmarried. It is given to everyone in the village. Those under the spell fall in love with the first person of the opposite sex they meet. The result is everyone falling in love with the wrong person.
