Grammy Award winning composer and violinist Mark O'Connor continues his “spectacular journey” (NY Times) in American music by educating the next generation of musicians as artist-in-residence at Philadelphia’s Curtis Institute of Music from November 17– 20th.
On November 18th, O’Connor will give a solo violin recital at the Field Concert Hall. This recital is co-sponsored by the Mark O'Connor String Camp, where hundreds of students get intensive training and instruction in playing styles from O’Connor and some of the world's finest performers and teachers.
O’Connor’s “Folk Mass” (OMAC) was released October 2008. The first recording of his ‘Americana Symphony (“Variations on Appalachia Waltz”)’, by the Baltimore Symphony, Marin Also conducting, will be released by OMAC March 10, 2009.
