Canon Explorer of Light and National Geographic photographer Sam Abell will be giving a free public lecture in the Clare and Josef Meier Recital Hall at Black Hills State University Wednesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. A reception will be held in the lobby of Meier Hall before the event at 6:30 pm.

A recognized Canon Explorer of Light photographer and National Geographic photographer since 1970, Sam Abell is well-known for his cultura...l and landscape images. He has lectured on photography and exhibited his images worldwide. Abell has also published numerous books, including, The Life of the Photograph and Australia: Journey Through a Timeless Land. His photographs have been displayed in such places as New York City’s International Center of Photography, the University of Oregon, and the Kluge-Rhue Museum in Charlottesville, Va.

The BHSU photography program will host an open house April 20. The public is invited to tour the photography facilities at BHSU and view student work. Images will be on display in Jonas Hall, Pangburn Hall, and Meier Hall, the Ruddell Gallery in the David B. Miller Yellow Jacket Student Union, and Roma’s Italian Restaurant.
