Overview
At the brink of the second decade of the new millennium, there is perhaps no better healthcare pundit than Tim Porter-O’Grady to enlighten us on emerging and interacting forces that are shaping opportunities, choices and changes. A leader in healthcare for nearly 40 years, Porter-O’Grady has held roles from staff nurse to senior executive in a variety of healthcare settings. He is noted for his work on shared governance models, clinical leadership, conflict and innovation. Tim has published extensively in healthcare with over 165 refereed journal articles and 17 books, and he is a six-time winner of the AJN Healthcare Book of the Year Award. His most recent book (2008) with co-author Kathy Malloch is Managing for Success in Health Care. Porter-O’Grady has consulted internationally with over 500 institutions and has lectured in over 1,000 settings internationally. He has held offices in professional associations and national and community boards, such as vice chair of the governing board of Catholic Health East, governor of Sigma Theta Tau International, president of AID Atlanta and the Georgia Nurse’s Foundation.
