Historic Cemetery Tour in Eaton Rapids

Cemeteries are filled with more then just those who have passed on. Cemeteries are outdoor museums; they are a window into a community’s past. As you stroll through the Eaton Rapids Rose Hill Cemetery on West Street, you will see many familiar names—Knight, Munn, Montgomery, Miller…and others not so familiar, like Nat Davis, a former slave and soldier in the Civil War. All were people who helped make Eaton Rapids into what it is today. Who are they, and why is it important to remember them?
We hope you will join us in an interesting presentation about the lives of some of our early citizens when the Eaton Rapids Area Historical Society will present historical tours of the Rose Hill Cemetery on Saturday October 24, 2009. There will be three tours- 11 am, 2:30 pm and 5 pm. Seating is limited, so get your tickets early!
Visitors will meet at the cemetery and will then tour the cemetery in our enclosed 22-passenger wagon. Costumed interpreters will be stationed throughout the cemetery and will tell about notable citizens from Eaton Rapids’ past.

The tour will last about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $5 for the tour and are available by calling (517)256-9460 or by sending an email to info@eatonrapidshistory.com . More information is available on our website http://www.eatonrapidshistory.com
